The Wirral

19-23 December 2015

The Wirral, the peninsula across the Mersey from Liverpool, is where my mum grew up. We had a lovely time there, visiting family and family friends. It was full of memories and links to my grandparents, who passed away a few years ago.

The park across the road from my grandparents' old house

The Millhouse, one of the local pubs, now closed down and due to be replaced with apartments

The Grange, another pub, still up and running

Moreton Presbyterian Church - my grandparents were very active in their local church for years. We were given a tour, including of the new kitchen. Apparently my grandmother spent a lot of time in the kitchen there! It was lovely to hear stories about their lives.

The Liver building in Liverpool, crowned by the Liver birds

The Beatles

Is that a ferry, crossing the Mersey?

Anna and Finn

And finally, because it was 2015, a centenary war memorial of cascading poppies. Lest we forget and repeat.
